A great car but a disappointing result for the NO. 88. Onto Atlanta!

We’re going to be trying something a little different this year. The ‘Rearview Mirror’ is essentially our post race discussion thread that will lead us into our next ‘Race Chat Room’. The ‘Rearview Mirror’ will be posted the morning following every Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race. Pretty simple, right? We’ll continue to do what we do best, posting NASCAR news we find around the web and discussing those topics.

The wait is over! The start of the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is finally here with the 59th Running of the Daytona 500, and the 69th season of NASCAR racing! As we all know there are some big changes with the race formats this year, so it will be interesting to see it all play out for the first time today.

But more importantly, this is the return of our fan favorite to NASCAR racing, Dale Earnhardt Jr.. After being out for the second half of the 2016 season due to a concussion, he is back and is as ready as ever to go racing. He will be starting second and going for his third victory in the Great American Race.

The Daytona 500 can be watched LIVE on your local FOX network.

‘Can-Am Duels’ Race Chat Room

Dale Earnhardt Jr., Chase Elliott

Chase Elliott and Dale Jr. starting 1st and 2nd for the Daytona 500

Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be starting first in his Duel race with his 2nd starting spot guaranteed for the Daytona 500 alongside repeat pole sitter Chase Elliott who will take the green flag in the first Duel race.

Weather will be interesting as scattered storms are in the forecast, but the keyword here is “scattered”, it will be interesting whether or not rain will significantly effect these two races. NASCAR VP Steve O’Donnell stated that if the races tonight are rained out then they will take place sometime Friday.

Race coverage begins at 7:00 PM EST on FS1 with the LIVE Leaderboard and NASCAR Drive located at NASCAR.com for companion viewing options.

Dale Jr. is looking for his second career Daytona 500 pole today in Kroger Qualifying for the Daytona 500. Jr. was 11th quick in yesterday’s marathon 4 hour qualifying practice session. The Clash made it clear that you need to be close to the front to have a chance at victory. It’ll be key that Dale Jr. qualifies in the top 15 or top 10 for a solid chance at victory on Thursday and Sunday.

Coverage is LIVE on your local FOX Network at 3 PM EST.

Welcome to DaleJrNation.blog

Welcome to the new home for Dale Jr. Nation! Thank you to those who have been loyal as we have grown from 88-Central.com back in 2011, to DaleJrNation.com in 2013, and now our third and final change to DaleJrNation.blog.

Dale Jr. Nation was established back in the Summer of 2011 by a group of loyal Dale Jr. fans that used to congregate each race weekend on the old NASCAR.com forums. This place was founded to give us a place where we could freely engage in conversation away from trolls and an over abundance of moderation. We share and post news stories from the world of NASCAR as well as just hang out and talk about whatever comes to mind. We have just one main rule here – Be Respectful to One Another.

If you’re a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. or just a big fan of NASCAR then you’re in the right place.

Welcome to Dale Jr. Nation.
