Race Weekend Chat: Dale Jr.’s Last Ride

This is it, everybody. The final Cup race of Dale Jr.’s career before he goes into retirement. I’ve personally watched him every race weekend since late 2004 and watched him win in the first ever NASCAR race I went to at Phoenix in November of 2004 when I had turned just 12 years old. Now 13 years later, after years of ups and downs, it has finally come down to this final race weekend. Like I said last week, time sure does fly.

Of course, nothing more special could happen this weekend than Dale Jr. winning in his final start of his career. But watching him drive around that old red Budweiser paint scheme on Sunday will be incredibly special in its own right. On Sunday, when lap 267 gets the checkers, it will not only be the end of the race and the 2017 championship, but more importantly the end of an era. Thank you Dale for everything. You will always be my #1 driver.

  1. Junior hired both Truex and Kez to DEI/JRM and both beat him to a Cup championship.
    Ain’t that a bitch?

Better it’s Truex than Kryle who got the booby prize championship via affirmative action type of bullshit by NA$CAR

  2. P16…caution is out… Junior sounding optimistic all of the sudden?

he says whatever they did was good but just takes off tight and gets better into the run

  3. I have a feeling that Mr. H. will be getting on everyone’s shit during the off-season to make sure that 2017 was just a fluke in terms of how little competitive they were this year. If JJ is struggling as bad as he has this year, something is wrong for sure.

    1. I truly believe that it was 100% NA$CAR’s fault.
They allowed Turdota to have a special modification to the underside of the nose (aero) that they would not allow Chevy or Ford to have.
NA$CAR has along history of hobbling certain makes (mostly Chevy) to allow thew other makes to win.
This is why people see that it’s all fucking RIGGED and are leaving the sport.

  4. Junior is much quieter on the radio,,, last said it’s a bit tight still on the exit.

        1. Junior says the RF tire is diving halfway into the wheel well making the LF tire pick up off of the ground in the turns (rolling over)

Shared a lot of laughs with this guy over the years. He’s always been that guy that was larger than life to me but would always have time for a conversation. Congrats on a great career and thanks for all you’ve done. @DaleJr

      1. Ives adjusted it into shit again, says he will put the wedge back in next stop.
Junior is asking for even more adjustments and is telling Ives what he wants now

  7. Gees, I remember our days back on NOL that all of the trolls always accused NA$CAR of rigging the races for Junior to win.

    Boy, were they ever wrong?

If NA$CAR wanted to keep on making $$$$$ they should have rigged dozens of arces for Junior, huh?
Because the $$$$$ is gone big time after this race for them!
