  3. I remember before the season started that Dale Jr. said Team 88 had gotten better in the time that he was off for the concussion the previous year. I’m sorry, but this is just not true. I remember be really underwhelmed by the performance of that car and team over the second half of that season. Whether it was Alex or Jeff, it ran about the same. I just remember it becoming clear that the team was a very poor team. Did anybody remember it like that or was it different for you?

      1. That’s how I feel about it, too. I saw where a lot of Dale Jr. fans where happy about it and said that they could continue supporting the 88. This has always confused me. Why would I support a driver just because of number? I’m not. When Dale steps out of that car at Homestead, I’m done with the 88. Sorry Alex.

      2. I think HMS is trying to facilitate my total indifference to the sport with this choice. Nothing against Bowman but he sure isn’t in a league with Blaney, Larson or even Elliot. I pretty much figured that when Junior retired I was out and this makes it easier.

        1. I’m guessing that the 88 from now on will the “it’s okay if it fails” car. The 48 won’t fail. HMS has too much stock in both Chase Elliot and the 24 to let it fail. And once Byron gets in the 5, they’ll have too much stock in him to allow that team to fail. The 88 will be the bottom of the totem pole. As long as the other three teams are performing, fixing the 88 won’t be a priority. If they succeed, great. If they don’t, no problem, either.

            1. In their minds, they need to have that 88 on the side. They think that it will make all of the Dale Jr. fans continue to support Team 88. Well, I can tell you one fan who won’t do that. In fact, part of me sort of wants them to continue struggling just so it will clarify that the team really, really sucks.

  4. Twice I tried to post a reply to Alucard and Bobs discussion and both replies disappeared. Then i made this reply to my own comment an it disappeared also… This site sucks IMO

      1. I’m sorry to be so critical RobBob, but I don’t understand how else to help other than honest feedback…. The offset for subsequent replies is set way to high…about the 5th reply on any given thread is not readable. I cannot understand how a vendor can offer this service without an edit/delete function to the users. The font size is way to big … and I’ve lost several replies here, assuming i am timing out which again should be a parameter in Meta-Data…. just makes no sense to me, a retired engineer in software…
Apologies for being a pain …….

    1. She really needs to drop back, his fans are going to get turned away and that will reduce her expendable income greatly. Maybe Junior is planning to go away after he retires because if she stays in the forefront he won’t have a lot of fans, whether she is right or wrong won’t matter they are his fans.

        1. I agree that The Clash isn’t something worth taking a risk over. Now, I must admit that I would feel differently if it was the Daytona 500 that she was stopping him from running. Winning that race is a huge deal.

I agree with you about her dropping back. In my opinion, putting out that statement yesterday was a big mistake. If she hadn’t said anything, then it would have just blew over without a second thought. With her saying that, it really riled up a lot of fans. Why? What pisses off a fan the most? It’s not bashing someone’s favorite driver or team. It’s questioning their fandom. When you do that, you’re really tarnishing their opinion of you going forward.

  5. Hey RobBob!
What’s with the site slicing off posts after about 4 or 5 replies?
Everything drifts off to the right side of the page until it cannot be seen anymore?

      1. I think that mine is better: Dumb-ass crew chief doesn’t think his scenarios through. The worst part is that I’ve seen people defending it and calling it a good call. “Good finishes don’t mean anything! Wins only!”, they say. How the hell was he supposed to win with older tires and 35 laps to go? If it was five laps to go, then yeah, I’d say go for it, but with 35 laps to go, why did think was going to happen?

          1. Well, I wasn’t trying to be philosophical. I was just trying to get the point across that the crew chief sucks. Here’s a question: If William Byron does get that ride, do you think that they will bring Dave Elenz with him and kick Greg to the curb? William and Dave seem to be clicking now.

            1. Good question, they brought Chase Elliot up and teamed him with Alan G . Chase had success with Ives.
If it was my call I might ry bringing a more experienced guy for Byron and put Ives somewhere where his abilities fit (not on a Cup Pit Box).

              1. I heard that Jason Ratcliff was also leaving the 20 car after this year. Maybe bring both Matt and Jason over, and when Matt retires, you have an experienced crew chief in Jason to go along with William? Going back to people wanting Bowman to get the 88 ride, I don’t know why people would want such a poor fate for the boy. That’s what he would get if Greg’s still the crew chief.

  6. It appears Ives and his crew have already retired….a-hole doesn’t know a racecar from a roller skate….you can tell Junior still wants to win but it feels like everybody else at HMS could care less….so sad I feel like crying.

  7. i understand the gamble , but wrong time , jrs car was faster at that time he was coming through the feild and moving forward , pitting for tires would have been the gamble could have a top 5 or even possibly a win ,
