  1. I find it funny that the drivers keep talking about wanting more and more downforce to be taken away, but the more downforce that’s taken away, the worse the racing becomes. I’m planting my flag in the sand right here! The 2014 race package was the best package! A lot of downforce so you could get your car to handle in different grooves around the track and race side by side plus a ton of horsepower so you could step on the throttle and rotate from the center off and get under somebody coming out of the corner! It was the best.

      1. 2004 was a good package, but I still prefer the 2014 package. The added downforce made it so that the cars could run in any groove around the track. I just recently watch the California race from that year on Youtube. It was crazy. Jeff Gordon had to come through the field from the back three times before even half way.

        1. It was much better racing in 2004 because they did not have these shitty COTs and Junior was on top of the game in the older cars and winning many races and leading in the points.

  2. Here’s the problem with making changes to the #88 team: Rick Hendrick thinks that Greg Ives is a good crew chief. He’s not stupid, though. He probably sees that Dale and Greg are not clicking right now. But, if you were Rick, would you fire someone whom you consider good for someone who’s leaving at the end of the year? Rick’s thinking about the future of HMS and not the future of Dale Earnhardt Jr. It’s a hard truth for us in Junior Nation, but it’s the reality of the situation.

        1. Same here and why I commented its reasonable for Mr H to make quiet adjustments, HMS could shore up this team without fanfare. Greg would live with that for the greater good. I still say if the 88Team continues this path of destruction, the fan base will hold both Junior and Mr H accountable… Dale Jr brand base will be forever tarnished….

About Greg, I don’t see Greg as a CC in the future, not even if Chase wants a change…IMO

          I am a fan, not a fanatic….

I tried to say Mr H could make ” quiet adjustments ” so as not save face across the board… My reference to being a fan and not a fanatic was speaking to post I see on Face Book where your not allowed to speak ur mind and Dale Jr can do no wrong….. just saying

              1. LOL mine either.. perhaps its an age thing ..???

I will add to what we’re talking about here in that perhaps this is yet again Dale Jr not recognizing or accepting the power of Jr Nation… from a business perspective, IE – Sponsors….

For today, it sure seems he wants to shoot himself in the foot here, his future could be so much more and perhaps, just perhaps Rick sees no future ventures with Dale Jr… which would surprise me….lots

            1. It’s fine. For me personally, this year isn’t going to affect my fandom of Junior. To be honest, when he announced his retirement at the end of the season, it completely changed my outlook for this year. It’s almost like, “It doesn’t matter.” I know that sounds strange, and it’s hard to explain, but I just feel the same about it as I did the struggles of the first half of 2016. Don’t get me wrong. I want him to see him go out with some wins, but I also realize the possibility that he might not be as good as he was before the injury, either. Actually, I’ve enjoyed the NXS races more this year because JRM is fast and could win any week, and should have won the last two races. I’ve been angrier after the NXS races this year than I have after the Cup races. Like I said, with Junior, I’m just like, “It doesn’t matter.”

              1. I am also about the NSX series, having fun watching JRM in contend every week, not a big fan of Sadler but have to admit he has stepped up his game since joining JRM… Im liking Little Gator for the Championship this year…..

Your right, at the end of the day …” it doesn’t matter “….. Just hate seeing Jr piss away so much opportunity for his future..Makes me wonder if Jr is more like Mikey than I ever realized….. Shame

                1. Here’s the thing about that, though: He’s not pissing it away. Why? Because what happens this year doesn’t affect him or JRM in any way. That’s the benefit and drawback of it being his last year. It doesn’t affect his future at all. Trust me. Dale Jr.’s brand won’t take a hit at all. Did Tony Stewart’s brand take a hit after struggling the past few years? No, he’s the car owner of the Daytona 500 winning car. He’s doing fine.

    1. Yeah, I just saw that awhile ago.

The track is in a very bad neighborhood, and I mean “hood”.
Notice that they called them “teens” so one can assume which race they were?

I’m always packing heat wherever I go, just got my CCDW renewed last week in fact and I always carry up there. If it were me there instead of Dixon, they’d likely be storing the two “youths” in a refrigerated drawer.
But I know better than to stop at any neighborhood businesses around the track’s neighborhood because I had been approached before by weirdos while fueling up the RV there.

You may remember me saying that during the Brickyard 400 they always have “Black Expo” going on just up the street? And that the out of towners attending the Expo usually cruise Georgetown St. at night starting trouble with rival gangs? And my laments about police helicopters spotlighting the camping areas and patrolling them with drug sniffing dogs like a prison camp? That’s why I don’t camp there anymore. And the one gang banger shooting 4 rivals right in front of where I was camping while there were still thousands still walking the streets at the vendor’s booths?

Last year or so some of the campers in the Coke lot got robbed at gunpoint.

I wished that Dixon or Franchitti would have been packing and had capped the two “teens”, but since they are foreign and probably can’t get a CCDW they can’t pack.

  3. Interesting. Lots of comments today on FaceBook….Dale Jr is not happy with his fans that want to see a changes in the 88Team… Jr saying the 88Team is family…No one needs to mess with his family….???…

    Go figure ???

    1. Makes one think, the team is family but fans who supported him for years are expendable now that his career is winding down??
I hope he realizes that a big part of JRM’s success and future is tied to fans and b.s.ing them may not
be a good move when you are not producing the results that helped attract them in the first place.

have to think if this is who Junior really is, Amy’s going to have her way …. ten years from now he & Mikey can hang out pretending its not over. a fantasy …..

      1. Some of the comments being said about the team members are REALLY in poor taste and go WAY too far.
I think those are the ones Junior is addressing? I have read many of those and some people go way over the edge with their insults and threats.

I think right now the only hope I have in finding joy in this is to hear “Changes were made on the 88 team today”.

  5. I listened to the Periscope comments… To be honest, I don’t get why Greg is not held accountable… I get how Junior must be a team player, that HMS is without sin here but Junior is not recognizing what he is doing to his brand, his fan base…. Surely he has to know his brand is his future….. not HMS….
It’s time Mr H stepped-in with quiet adjustments to stop the 88Team’s distruction …. Surely, HMS can see this is a train wreck headed for disaster…

If nothing is done here, history will not be kind to Junior or HMS. This will only get worse…. The balance of this year will be sad, that will not speak well to the heritage and health of NASCAR…

      1. If Dale Jr has health issues that are really driving this train wreck, I would rather see him walk away today than to continue the 2017 season in this brand self destruct mode …

        Liked by 1 person

        1. Anything is possible, but I really don’t think that his health is currently a major issue. Sure, the possibility of future injuries is probably the biggest reason that he’s hanging up the helmet at the end of the year, but if he was in that much danger, he wouldn’t have come back this year. Give him a little credit. He’s smarter than that. I think that he started the season with the intent of driving a few more years, but he quickly realized that the team was going in the wrong direction, so he decided to retire. There’s no point in risking your health if you’re not running up front and contending for wins. Also, you asked why Greg is not held more accountable? Obviously, Junior’s upcoming retirement is a key part of it, but also remember that Junior has always been this way with crew chiefs. He never blamed Lance, either.

          1. I hear you both Alucard an BBB … IMO we r saying same things…Yea, Alucards point has merit
in how the team had preformed an that alone could be cause for Jr to retire today.

I’m just saying if this team continues and I have no reason to think Greg will magically improve, its on Mr H to make the best of what is left…. eles the 2017 88Team swan song will not be good and Dale Jr deserves more for that….

  6. Listened to a little of Junior’s post-race post and wanted to cry…he wanted to cry…he must be so frustrated,so angry,so HUMILIATED by the quality of cars and crew he has been provided with…I thought Rick liked him but it seems he is totally disinterested in the 88 team. A good owner would not let things get this bad for a marquee team. And Ives is the biggest f-up since Lancie !

    1. He’s depressed because he knows that he and his team have been letting all of us down with the repeated failures.
      Can’t blame him for that.
Even with all of the corporate greed driving all of this business, it is still a sport for some of us and Junior too.

      1. I was there last year for the 100th running! 🙂
It was sold out and the seats that I had had pretty crappy sight lines, but I sat on the inside side of the track directly in front of Graham Rahal’s pit box, so I got to watch the pits stops up really close.

And I I’ve said before here, do you know why their attendance is so high and NA$CAR’s is waning?
It’s because the IRL and Indianapolis Motor Speedway haven’t ever tried to toss out all of the years of their tradition and alienate their fan base for politically correct ones to please their corporate masters. They don’t have constant rules changes to try to appease the whiners and short attention span types.

They openly embrace their tradition and don’t ever try to brainwash any political correctness or political bullshit into the fans with PR manipulation.

What you see is real and what you get there. No manufactured bullshit like with NA$CAR.
